Roland Habersetzer
9th Dan Karatedô, Hanshi

Roland Habersetzer, born in 1942, practices martial arts since 1957. Already in 1961 he received the 1st Dan, thus becoming one of the first French “black belts” in karate. Today he is a well-reputed expert as well in the Japanese martial arts (budô) as in the Chinese martial arts (wushu). In 2006 he was awarded the 9th Dan and the title of a Sôke for his own martial arts style “Tengu no michi” by O-Sensei Tsuneyoshi Ogura (1928-2007; master Ogura was a disciple of Yamaguchi Gôgen and Gima Makoto).

In 1968 Roland Habersetzer published his first specialised book on martial arts. Until today he has written more than 70 books on this topic that were translated in several languages. They are considered as reference books in all francophone countries and highly appreciated in many other countries.
